Am 16. Mai 2025 hat Steinbeis PolyVert, ein führendes österreichisches Unternehmen für Kunststoff-Recycling, eine neue Recyclinganlage mit künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) in Völkermarkt eröffnet. Das Projekt kostet etwa 50 Millionen Euro und soll das Recycling in Europa verbessern.
Die neue Anlage benutzt KI, um verschiedene Materialien genau zu erkennen und zu sortieren. Sie kann bis zu fünf Tonnen Material pro Stunde verarbeiten und soll jährlich 50.000 Tonnen hochwertiges Recyclingmaterial herstellen. Besonders gut kann sie komplizierte Materialien wie Mehrschichtflaschen sortieren, die oft schwer zu recyceln sind.
Der Geschäftsführer André Aßmann sagte, dass diese Technik ein großer Schritt für das intelligente Recycling von Rohstoffen ist. Die KI hilft, Fehler zu erkennen und den Prozess zu optimieren. So wird die Qualität besser und die Arbeit effizienter.
Mit der neuen Anlage zeigt Steinbeis PolyVert sein Engagement für Kreislaufwirtschaft und Umweltschutz. Das Unternehmen will Plastikprodukte länger nutzen und so Ressourcen sparen.
Die Firma beschäftigt aktuell 122 Mitarbeiter und hat weitere Anlagen in Kühnsdorf (Österreich) und Großenlüder (Deutschland). Die offizielle Eröffnung findet am 20. Mai 2025 statt. Es werden wichtige Gäste aus Wirtschaft und Politik erwartet.
